10/2/2008: "Wow, wow, wow! [Alpen Glow] was clean, beautiful, well equipped, and cozy.
The grounds
equaled the house and had the added attributes of tree swings, a nice
lawn, and oh yeah, a stunning view and proximity to the river.
I
can't wait to come back with Terri." Scott Lewis/Larkspur, CA

Created and operated by Heidi Tiura and Steph Dutton, Trinity River Adventure Inn answers the question where two sea captains who created Sanctuary Cruises, a fine, conservation-based whale watching company on the Monterey Bay, go after years on the ocean working with whales & dolphins~and being featured on National Geographic. Check out our cabins below or on the Lodging page. Click here for updates and stories about what we're seeing & doing at the inn. Read Back Talk to learn what our guests have said about their visits.

10/2/2008: Introducing our new Store page! Everything from Kayaks to T-shirts, with more to come.

Check it out for our weathered silkscreened and embroidered T-shirts, super thick fleece pullovers with a rich embroidered design, Ocean Kayaks, Carlisle Paddles, Surf to Summit Kayak Accessories and more.

Trinity River Adventure Inn's cabins have two locations on the upper Trinity River. We feature year-round river and lake kayaking and rafting, fishing, hiking, birding, wine tasting and much more. We provide wonderful meals (optional) and specialize in introducing people to new experiences such as paddling. We give great sit-on-top kayak lessons (we specialize in chickens) and guided tours, plus we rent kayaks, rafts and a drift boat. Around here, the river is easy Class I and II, meaning it's fun and exciting without being scary.
Our Bucktail location is 3 miles from Lewiston and the Steel Bridge location is near Douglas City. We offer full cabins at both locations, as well as rooms at Bucktail. Plus, we do kayak lessons, rentals and sales; and raft rentals. Just 45 minutes west of Redding, we are perfectly positioned for fishers, kayakers, hikers and people who want to kick back and relax.

This is the river view from the Steel Bridge cabins
Steel Bridge Lodging: 4 cabins on the Trinity River
Miner's Cabin: A romantic hideaway perched a few feet above the river. Enchanted location in a private grove. Riverside porch
Alpen Glow: Grand 2 BR/2BA A frame with large kitchen & deck; extra beds; a Jacuzzi tub and wood stove in the master loftroom
Carriage House: Entire interior soft cedar. 1BR/1BA with additional oak captain's bed. Wonderful, deep riverside porch
Dragonfly Cottage: One room cottage next to Carriage; may be rented with the Carriage for an additional bedroom.

"The Carriage House was more than we had hoped for; the river in the backyard is awesome. We haven't seen that many different types of birds all in one place in a while. I caught 5 trout at Stuart's Fork on Saturday in about 45 minutes; I released all of them.
We'll see you in June."
Greg Aarreberg/Pacifica, CA

Bucktail Lodging: Cabins on & near the Trinity River

Sow's Ear: Delightful 3 BR/2BA cabin just up from the river. River view and sounds. Hot tub on river.  Full kitchen & laundry.
COMING FALL 2008: Trout: A small log cabin right next to the river located across from Bucktail put-in!
"Superlatives are necessary to describe all aspects of our visit. We went with our daughter, avid fisherman-son-in-law, their 2 children-3 years old and 7 mos. old-and their Golden Retriever, and we filled up Sow’s Ear quite handily. It was great to be able to spread out to accommodate toys, naps (children’s and adult’s!), etc. Gail High/Lake Tahoe, CA

Fish a World Famous River
"Caught my first steelhead and it was fantastic!"
Frank Meraz, Sr./Fresno, CA

The Trinity River is renowned for salmon, steelhead, trout and more. Guests come from all over the country to fish this river
and our locations couldn't be better. Guides can even pick you up at Bucktail and drop you off at our Steel Bridge cabins.

Kid & Dog-Friendly Lodging & Adventures
"I recommend this B&B to any adventureist who may have kids or dogs."
Tara Roddy/Santa Cruz, CA

It takes a special touch to introduce kids to paddling or hiking, or dogs to riding in a sidecar or kayaking, and we do it well;
whether it's picking blackberries on a kayak trip or running the gentle rapids with your four-legged best friend.
Well-behaved, friendly dogs are welcome at all of our cabins; same goes for the kids.

Heidi writes our newsletter for the inn. She tells stories about the wildlife we see (such as salmon spawning November of 2007),
guests who have visited, what's going on with the weather and the intricacies of life in the slow lane, living on the river.
The newsletter often includes special offers; it goes out sporadically and we keep your address private.
