Just follow the directions below. Watch out for online directions and GPS systems;

We're located in the mountains of Northern California. Both our Bucktail and Steel Bridge locations are less than an hour west of Redding, which is on I-5.
From the San Francisco Bay Area, we're 4-6 hours away by car. Go to Redding on I-5, then take the turn for Eureka/44 West off I-5. Follow the signs through Redding for Eureka/Weaverville. 44 turns into 299/Eureka Way on the west end of town. (Least expensive gas is usually at the 7-11 on your right on Eureka Way on west side of Redding.) From the coast, come in on 299 just north of Arcata. Drive through Weaverville, then follow direction set for "EASTBOUND FROM WEAVERVILLE/THE COAST."

After leaving Redding, you'll start up into the mountains, passing Old Shasta, Whiskeytown Lake and the turn off for French Gulch. Continue west up into the mountains on 299.

Cell phones have only spotty coverage up here, but they work well in Douglas City and Weaverville, so call us if you go too far: 530.778.3444. If we are waiting for you over at the Steel Bridge location, the phone number there is 530.623.9444.

THE FIRST DIRECTIONS ARE FOR  THE STEEL BRIDGE CABINS (ALPEN GLOW, CARRIAGE HOUSE, DRAGONFLY & MINER'S CABIN. DIRECTIONS FOR OUR BUCKTAIL LOCATION NEAR LEWISTON AND THE SOW'S EAR CABIN ARE FARTHER DOWN ON THE PAGE

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STEEL BRIDGE LOCATION (Alpen Glow, Carriage House, Dragonfly Cottage & Miner's Cabin):
NEW! Click here for our Google Maps Link to the Steel Bridge Location

Westbound From Redding:

Drive west on 299 about 45 minutes. Pass both turnoffs for Lewiston. Roughly 2 miles past the second turn for Lewiston, you'll see this view of the Trinity Alps off your right side.

As you're heading down the mountain, look for the Steel Bridge sign on the right. Take that right.

Drive a few hundred feet to the first road on the left, which is Thistle Lane. Left onto Thistle and down the lane which becomes our driveway (about 2 blocks). Don't take the right turn off Thistle.
If we're waiting for you at Steel Bridge, the phone number there is 530.623.9444. Our number at our Bucktail location is 530.778.3444.

EASTBOUND FROM WEAVERVILLE/THE COAST: Look for the sign shown here on the left. Turn left onto Steel Bridge Road. Drive a few hundred feet to the first road on the left, which is Thistle Lane. Left onto Thistle and wind down about 2 blocks to end of the road.

The first cabin you'll see is the Carriage House on the right. The picture below shows part of the Carriage House followed by Alpen Glow, the A Frame.

If you're staying at the Carriage House and Dragonfly, or Alpen Glow, please drive to your cabin to unload, then park in the main parking lot up near the entrance, nose in to the log, so there is plenty of room for fishing guides to turn around.
Miner's Cabin guests: Drive through breezeway and park in covered parking just beyond breezeway at left, or under walnut trees. DON'T DRIVE DOWN TRAIL TO CABIN. If it's at all wet, you will need a tow truck to get out. Follow the trail down the hill toward the river, walking through the grove of trees. The Miner's is just a 15 second walk down the trail.

BEWARE: There are beautiful 150 year old walnut trees beyond the breezeway. Walnuts fall out of these trees late summer-fall.

YOU CAN ALSO FLY HERE: Redding has a cool little airport and daily flights from major airports. You can fly in and rent a car or arrange to have us pick you up for an additional charge. We suggest you rent a car so you can explore on your own. If you're a pilot, Trinity Center has a very nice airport as well. Call us about a pick up and drop off.

BUCKTAIL LOCATION FOR SOW'S EAR AT BUCKTAIL NEAR LEWISTON:

WESTBOUND FROM I-5/REDDING:
Drive west from Redding as described above. About 45 minutes out of Redding, pass the first turn-off for Trinity Lake, Lewiston Lake, Lewiston and Trinity Dam Boulevard.
LOOK AT THE SIGN BELOW: DON'T TURN HERE.

About 3.9 miles farther west, you'll come to the next Lewiston turn-off and see the signs below, including a sign for a winery, plus the signs for Lewiston, the lakes and Bucktail River Access, which is where you're headed. Take that right onto Lewiston Road.

EASTBOUND FROM WEAVERVILLE/THE COAST: Look for the signs below. Take this left for Lewiston, the winery, and Bucktail River Access. Then follow directions below.)

You're now on Lewiston Road. Go 3 miles to Browns Mountain Road/Bucktail Access. The sign is on the right, but you will turn left onto Browns Mountain Road.
Staying on the paved road, cross the river (about 1/4 mile from Lewiston Road), then take the first right after the bridge (about a block from bridge) onto Salmon Drive.
Go one block and turn right onto Steelhead. Go to the end of the road, which is about a long block.
Laughing Salmon (our cabin) is to the right behind a big fence and Sow's Ear is to left. Look for the sign for Sow's Ear in the front yard. The driveway bends around and up to Sow's Ear. If you're staying there, you can park up by the cabin or in the central parking area.

DUNSMUIR ALPINE SKI & FISH HAUS

This one is super easy. Click here for Google Alpine Fish & Ski Haus in Dunsmuir

Coming from the south: Take the first exit for Dunsmuir exit, which puts you on Dunsmuir Avenue. Continue north into town. After passing the cemetary on the right, Dunsmuir Avenue curves to the right. As it straightens, you'll see our place on the left and Dunsmuir Tire ahead on the right.
Coming from the north: Easiest method: Take the last exit for Dunsmuir and follow directions above.
Scenic Route Through Historical District: Take the Central Dunsmuir exit and continue south through the historical district. About 5 blocks from downtown, you'll see Dunsmuir Tire on the left.
Our Haus is 6217 Dunsmuir Avenue and just beyond the tire shop on the right.

Park in the driveway in front of the garage if your vehicle is small to medium-sized. If not, park across the street. You may enter through the front door up the stairs, or the downstairs door on the right side of the haus; or (our favorite, especially if we have groceries) through the kitchen door, which is at the upper back and reached by following the walk along the left side of the haus.
