The river is staying up longer this summer thanks to the wet winter and extended higher release from the dam. This means our guided kayak trips are really fun and exciting while actually being a bit easier than with lower flows which add up to more rocks to avoid. While avoiding rocks is entirely doable it is nice flowing along over them! Not a water baby? Trinity County has hundreds of inviting trails, several intriguing museums, cool antique stores and much more to catch your eye. Come for a relaxed stay in a charming cabin on the glorious Trinity River. Hike, wet a line, read and observe nature. Or as one recent guest put it: "Remember how to live."
About reviews: we advertise on AIRBNB, VRBO and Glamping and have great reviews on them. Just do a search online by the cabin's name and location and they will pop right up, but your best rate will always come by booking directly with us.
Or head to magnificent Mt. Shasta. Make our Dunsmuir Alpine Fish & Ski Haus your base and then explore the mountain, Castle Crags, or one of the many water delights up there. Trinity and Mt. Shasta both offer a staggering amount of ways to find--and lose--yourself. Perfect.
You're going to love our lodging and what their locations have to offer.
We live each day with the belief we make a difference for the good. But as this recent radio piece from North State Public Radio illustrates, there are occasionally periods when all patience is exhausted fighting the good fight. What to do then? Speak up!

Our unique Trinity River cabins are spread out over 2 different locations about 15 minutes from Weaverville. Their links are above in the header bar. They range from a real miner's cabin that has been lovingly restored and enhanced and is just a few feet from the river, all the way up to Alpen Glow, our stunning A-frame that looks out on sweeping lawns, the river, mountains and sky. Each has a fire pit for marshmallows, star-gazing and story-telling.
Dunsmuir is an ideal rendezvous point from the north and south. The Haus has 3+ bedrooms, 2 baths, full laundry, a private patio with fire pit and much more. The area is known for its world-class hiking and climbing opportunities, fishing, exquisite spiritual retreats and mineral spas. Winter visitors appreciate the fact the Haus is just 20 minutes from Mt. Shasta's Ski Park. This is a wonderful, family-friendly resort with prices a fraction of Tahoe's and we (Steph & Heidi) are ski instructors there.
"You two are the most positive, full of energy--and life--people we have ever met. You are not only masters of the river, but also observably masters of love and appreciation for good things in life such as soul mates, courage, passion and respect for nature. Our river rafting trip was the highlight."

"Dunsmuir is such a lovely town, good choice you guys! Everything in this Haus is so lovely. We can see you guys come and live here sometimes; so that makes it feel more cozy. Thanks for all the thoughtful and kind things you've put in this house. We will all be sad to leave California - so jealous about people living here, like you guys. We are very very grateful for your lovely Haus."

We had guests at Sow's Ear next to us with whom we really hit it off. They admitted to wondering if our stories could possibly be true, because if they are, there is so much crammed into our lives. From Steph's having paddled a sea kayak from Canada to Mexico and Heidi running a towboat on the infamous Columbia River Bar in Oregon; to whales; motorcycles; ferocious conservation efforts and so much more. And in winter they're PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America)-certified ski instructors on Mt. Shasta.
