“The Ski Haus was fantastic. Heidi is a very organized and helpful host that provides a comprehensive welcome book with a ton of information about Dunsmuir. The house was very cleanly kept with all the amenities you would need to have a great experience. We had clean towels, sheets and all the necessities in the kitchen. Will definitely return! I highly recommend the Ski Haus in Dunsmuir for a great weekend getaway!” Kunal/San Francisco, CA

ALPINE FISH & SKI HAUS RATES for up to 6 Guests; two more additional guests (total of 8) may be considered and are $16.50 each per night: $155 per night. Add 12% lodging tax and $95 cleaning.
$125 per night for 1-2 guests using a single bedroom and bathroom. Add 12 % tax and $50 cleaning fee.
Please call for discounted rates for 3 or more nights as well as rates for the lower floor only (during ski season).
We welcome friendly dogs. They are $15 each per stay and must be pre-approved.

HEADS & BEDS: The Haus is priced for a maximum number of guests; this includes guests of any age except infants under 1 year old. We expect your numbers to be accurate. We will consider additional guests, but if they're allowed, they are $16.50 each per night.

The Fish & Ski Haus has four bedrooms, two baths, a private patio with a fire pit, 2 BBQs and a lovely garden (wait 'til you see our ski fence!). It has a beautiful view of the mountains across the valley and even a bit of Mt. Shasta from the private patio in back.
It's on Dunsmuir Avenue, just a few minutes off Interstate 5, yet it avoids both freeway noise and close train sounds (although we love the trains' occasional horns as they go through town!). The Haus has a Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime and Wi-Fi.

In winter, Shasta's Ski Park is a huge draw. For a small resort, it offers excellent runs for beginners, intermediates and experts, and the rates are so low, you can afford to spend several days enjoying all that it has to offer. Steph and Heidi teach skiing at the Ski Park and during their days on, offer the lower portion of the Haus (2 bedrooms, 3 beds, full bath & laundry; separate entrance) at a greatly reduced rate. Call for details. Summer in the Siskiyou Mountains is fantastic and Dunsmuir is a fun place to stay while climbing Mount Shasta or Castle Crags; exploring Siskiyou County; fishing the Upper Sacramento River; attending spiritual retreats and discovering Dunsmuir itself. Fishers flock to the area, as do hikers. Drive up Mt. Shasta to Bunny Flat for gorgeous photographs of the entire area. Enjoy the fire pit on the Haus' patio.

You'll find many quality restaurants in Dunsmuir, most of which are in walking distance from the Haus. Catch some excellent food, brews and live music at Dunsmuir Brewery Works, which is also an easy walk from the Haus. Dine at romantic Cafe' Maddalena or Dogwood Diner. Be sure to shop for vintage clothing, jewelry and antiques at The Brown Trout next door to Dogwood Diner, too! And don't leave that shop before looking under the mat at the front door for a real surprise. Families enjoy the Pizza Factory and Yaks on the north end of town offers hearty breakfasts, gourmet burgers, salads, bakery items and more.

The renowned Ted Fay Fly Shop is also located in downtown Dunsmuir and just a stroll away from the Haus. The Upper Sacramento River and other rivers and streams nearby are very popular for fishing.

DOG STUFF: We welcome friendly dogs and as with humans, require an accurate head count to decide if it's OK. There is a $15 charge per dog per stay.

Our videos are both worth watching. Each shows something the other doesn't:
EASY DIRECTIONS: The Haus is located at 6217 Dunsmuir Avenue. Take first Dunsmuir exit off I-5 northbound (third exit southbound).
That puts you on Dunsmuir Avenue. Drive north one mile. The haus will be on the left side.

"The kids loved the sensation of skiing through the fresh powder. They kept saying it was like they were floating. They could not get enough of it. We hardly took a break. At the end of the day, the lunch in the locker was still there to take home at 7 PM . We just ate what we had in our pockets. It was so amazing no one wanted to stop." Jennifer Furtado

"Cozy home, charming decor and garden. Great hosts!"  Myr, Brent & Sage

"We had a good time at the haus and look forward to staying again!"
Tara & Greg Lucas
Our place is just a few blocks from the station, with one of those blocks being a moderate climb. Whether you drop in for a night or for a longer stay, there are neat places you can explore nearby, even by foot! And Mount Shasta Ski Park is just a 20 minute drive from our door.
"I was not alone in my group thinking that Dunsmuir was much better than Mount Shasta. The water tasted better, the food was more satisfying, and the town more quaint. We will back again either as a girls group or with our families to enjoy the food, fishing, and water. Best, Katherine Eng"
"We had a lovely time at the haus. We were very comfortable for our time there, and I particularly enjoyed the fleece sheets! Thank you again for a lovely stay, and I will definitely remember the cabins on Trinity River! Happy New Year!" Jacque Bohlen/SF, CA
"Your Dunsmuir place is AWESOME! I loved the location. The fish lights [around the canopy of the master bedroom's queen bed] were my favorite touch. I was amazed at how many people you could accommodate. It really is a great set up. Excited to tell the world about it!"
Kara Tripp/Assistant Director of Outfitters at The Fly Shop, Inc. Redding, CA
"We had a great time in Dunsmuir/Shasta - went on the hike you recommended, ate dinner at the Brewery and at Cafe' Maddalena the second night - sat under the arbor - food was great, service terrific. It's a gem of place.
Your house is beautifully appointed and spotless, we enjoyed being there; it is very comfortable and well situated. My husband is an avid fly fisherman and frequents Fall River, Rock Creek and the Trinity River. We enjoyed the fishing photographs you have in your house [all by our guests] and got a kick out of your fishy lights in the bedroom! Thanks again for accommodating us. We are very appreciative of your hospitality and had a great time." Marisa Mizono/Marin County, CA
"We had a lovely vacation exploring Dunsmuir and vicinity. Your house was very clean and comfortable for us and centrally located for all our adventures. Thanks for a pleasant visit." Lynda Ives/Sacramento, CA
" Fishing was great for the bait & lure fishing. My buddy fished with lures and caught 15 fish in 3 sessions on the river. He caught 3 pretty big ones. I was fly fishing and had a tougher time, but I did catch a couple of big boys." Cal Falk Napa, CA
"The place is wonderful for us; having a great time. Enjoying your homey place so much, too. We have stayed in so many different places and you never know quite what to expect, but you guys have put so much into making the place comfortable, clean, organized, and sweet.
Love Dunsmuir and the [100% pure] water, the brew pub, and your nicely stocked kitchen. We love to cook, and travel with our knives, pepper grinder, good salt, etc. Not needed here! Nice ipod docking station and comfy beds.
The whole trip has been great. Skiing is awesome. Sometimes go to Tahoe but much prefer the less crowded and peaceful vibe of places like this! Will definitely hope to return sometime. I had a great walk around town, everyone is so friendly.
Having fantasies of moving up here. Maybe someday... sigh. Much thanks."
